The Sound of Lace-‘The House that Love Built’

I’ve wanted to resurrect this feature for a while. Let’s build a playlist!

These are the songs that inspire me, remind me of why we do what we do, and nourish me for the journey.

The first one was made just for us. ‘The House That Love Built’ has been in my heart for years. That I have been able to live out the song, in a singular and an amazing way, fills me with joy.

I listen to it all the time, and these days, when I do, I think of all of you. The house always seems to fit just right; always has the light on.

Honesty, Loyalty–Melissa sings this with a lilt–y’all, this life we have made together doesn’t have to be heavy burden, it can be shared joy!

Let’s listen together. And make a soundtrack for our walking and talking and resting and growing in Lumpy Crossings.

With Love

Your Lace

I have two. Actually, I have a whole playlist that I narrowed down to 2 for this community. And I look forward to adding to that list based on what everyone posts, beginning with Lace’s offering (which I love).

“Rise Up” by Andra Day. The whole song fits, but particularly, “We gonna walk it out and move mountains.” This video has the lyrics for anyone unfamiliar with it. https://youtu.be/wcG9_bPR1_o

“New Dawn” by Kayt Pearl. This whole space is a New Dawn – doing things in new ways. I love Kayt’s call to “open your heart as wide as the horizon” and “go beyond what you know.” I don’t remember how I found her, but the song is on Bandcamp at this link: https://kaytpearl.bandcamp.com/track/new-dawn

“Hands” by Jewel is the song I go back to. I am reminded that worrying about things is not useful but that there is work to do. I’m reminded that even small actions matter and that kindness can be a tremendous force in a world full of cruelty.

I’m not religious, so I am not God’s hands or eyes. They are my hands and with them I can choose to hurt or heal. I try to use them to heal.
