LoR FB Page – Opinion | A Problem Starbucks Can’t Train Away – 180462689274213

My father is an angler. As this article shows, for a black man like Hubert, sometimes that was and is a revolutionary act.

We as black people live in the crosshairs of 200 million white people; we stare down the barrels of 200 million weapons, each one with a hair trigger, each one with an itchy, twitchy finger ready in a blink to take us out, and then to eagerly blame us for the blood splatter.

Every single white person is a weapon, unless they make an intentional choice to surgically remove from themselves the lethal bullets of white supremacy.

As the incident at Starbucks, and LA Fitness has shown, and Krispy Krunchy Chicken, and Kohls, and all the rest in the last week alone have shown us all, every white person is an assassin, unless they make daily, hourly, even minute-by-minute and second-by-second decisions and intentional overt actions *not to be one*.

Every day, metaphorically and actually, white people have the power, the means, and the opportunity to do the unthinkable. And all too many times, they do exactly that.

Living my life with my hands showing and my heart in my throat is a daily occurrence for me, as it has always been for my father Hubert, and always was for my grandfather Luttrie, and will always be for my niece and nephews.

You can change that. It is imperative that you do.

How have you ‘open carried’ your white supremacy?

How committed are you to laying down your arms and slowly backing away from your entitled, locked-and-loaded AR-15 of racial and societal privilege?

Put another way, how have *you* beaten your own racial sword into ploughshare?

And, if you have not, what will it take for you to do so?

Again, I strongly invite commentary.
