Bebe Moore Campbell, a Black woman novelist and essayist who passed way too soon, wrote two books on the relationships between Black women and white women.

They both turn on betrayal, and they offer no easy answers.

‘What You Owe Me’ is a story of two women who founded a cosmetics company together, and, after they achieve success, the white woman runs off with the profits. Theirs is a story of deep friendship, utter sabotage, and complicated healing.

‘Brothers and Sisters’ is about what should be a mundane story–two office friends as they try to become more than just office friends to each other, but with the layers of race, money, power, and yes, betrayal that make for choices that make that friendship fraught.

They need to be required reading here. They are easy reads, easily available on Amazon. They should spark conversation and reflection.
