Extrapolate this to race.
All these memes and manifestos that I’ve seen in the last few days are telling me something.
That white women do indeed get it.
They just don’t want to extend the same respect that they are demanding for themselves to us.
This is a conversation that needs to happen.
After Kavanaugh, and now this, there’s no way we can say that this is a comprehension issue.
Not that it ever was.
This is a race issue.
And if you are asking us to stand with you on this, and then you disappear into the woodwork when you either get what you want, or grow fatigued of fighting, we see you.
This is a big deal.
White women have had every chance in the last two years since this debacle of a presidency to actually learn in authentic and meaningful and durable ways what solidarity means.
And every single time white women, as a group, have failed miserably.
And then something happens that perks up their ears because they are affected.
But they cannot pivot to the harm they themselves do, they cannot pivot to the fact that when it comes to racism, they are as much perpetrators as they are victims of the patriarchy, and the day they figure it out it will bust wide open.
Maybe not today.
But find your clench, confront it, dismantle it, and start breaking out.
No reacts. Comments only.
Edited to add: so it seems that it was indeed “borrowed”.
Gonna go ask the woman who posted it if it’s original.
