June Ask

May brought many new faces to Lace on Race. We have walked through a season of root planting and reaffirmation of the ethos of the community here. Now comes the time for maintaining the new sprouts of relationship. As with new plants, resilience to wind and storms is essential to surviving. New growth must be pruned and checked for disease. We need the tools to make our time spent here sustainable and transferable.

Looking forward, we are continuing the Relational Ethics series, crafting sustainer content, and envisioning next steps for this community. These steps cannot happen without full engagement from you here.

We are also committed to supporting other women of color in this space; each month we will feature a person whose work is worth recognizing and supporting. We also feature an organization each month whose purpose and work are deserving of support. We post weekly reminders of these commitments.

We will be doing feature posts for both the individual and organization this week, and will include links to those featured posts. I expect full engagement on the focused feature posts once they are shared, as well as your ability and willingness to hold and contribute to their efforts.

As always, you can engage and walk with any or all of those we feature, but it is important that you do indeed engage, and not scroll past. It is also an important part of your praxis to examine your resistance, or stated inability, or whatever barrier you have to this aspect of the work. If you need an accountability partner, let me know. This is an important enough part of praxis, that it needs to be explored fully.
