From Son of Baldwin:

I hate to say this because I want to believe in accomplices, but it’s true:

When Black people refuse to step in, defend, join in solidarity or empathize non-Black people of color’s suffering, you may be offended, but you have no right to be shocked.

You cannot continually step on Black people’s spirits and then, when someone else is stepping on your spirit, turn to Black people asking for assistance.

I mean, in theory, you *can* ask, but maybe you would be a fool to expect expect a helping hand.

And, perhaps–perhaps–us Black folk would be fools to extend one.

The gag an tee hee hee here is that the African continent has less cases than China. Are they doing this to Europeans, too? Because Europe is also ravaged. Why is it always Black people being blamed for shit?

Anti-Blackness is GLOBAL. As I’ve said before, it’s one of the adhesives holding this reality together. Anti-Black people should truly consider giving it up though. Release the chains of it. Then your hands will have so much more time to do art, to have rhythm, to aid in healing.

“African officials are confronting China publicly and in private over mistreatment of Africans in the Chinese city of Guangzhou, and the U.S. says African-Americans have been targeted, too.

Some Africans in the commercial hub have reported being evicted or discriminated against amid coronavirus fears. And a U.S. Embassy security alert on Saturday said that ‘police ordered bars and restaurants not to serve clients who appear to be of African origin’ and local officials have launched mandatory testing and self-quarantine for ‘anyone with ‘African contacts.’

That’s in response to a rise in virus infections in Guangzhou, the U.S. said, adding that ‘African-Americans have also reported that some businesses and hotels refuse to do business with them.’

African diplomats in Beijing have met with Chinese foreign ministry officials and ‘stated in very strong terms their concern and condemnation of the disturbing and humiliating experiences our citizens have been subjected to,’ Sierra Leone’s embassy in Beijing said in a statement Friday, adding that the diplomats reminded officials of their support of China in the pandemic’s early days.”
