Lace mentioned we would be re-running the ask as Facebook limits our reach. She asked for your grace if you see it multiple times. I (Danielle) ask for your grace as well, but also your engagement. Many of you know that Lace is retiring from her paid county work this month. This month has also been a slow month from the perspective of financial engagement.

Lace is stepping out in faith that this community she has so lovingly started and grown here will hold her, with the same faithful, reliable walking and care that she gives to each of us. For us to pull back from engaging right when the rubber is meeting the road is not an encouragement for Lace that we can indeed be reliable for the long term.

I invite you to examine your feelings around financial engagement – whether you are lurking and deciding you can learn “enough” that way, or whether you are consistently reading/responding to queries and building relationships with Lace and others in this community. Does your financial engagement reflect your idea of the value of Lace on Race? Does it reflect the amount of “skin in the game” you are willing to invest in the goal of reducing and mitigating harm to Black and Brown people, perpetuated by white people?

If you have already met your commitment this month, I am not here to squeeze your last dollar. It falls to you to regularly evaluate your participation here. You won’t be asked to justify to me or anyone else whether you have done so and are confident you are engaging appropriately. But I am asking you to confront that internally and then note that you have done so here.
