*Edited to add:
1) We have contacted KK and they are providing us with the opportunity to walk with ten Black women; that’s $2000, almost the totality of the Fund at this point.
2) Initially, I did not explicitly request that you share the Rapid Response, because, candidly, based on past actions, I know that 99.9% of you won’t. But I *am* going to ask that you do–and publicly. The more that respond, the more we can walk with eye to eye.
Yes, you will get a low response rate. So do we at Lace on Race. Fewer than 2% of of you have engaged with this action to date.
Yes, that is absolutely worth interrogating and confronting and unpacking as a community.
But not right now; this is a Rapid Response. I would like to get to 5%. That is still a stunningly low goal. That means people who have never engaged before, or who engage sporadically, absolutely need to step up. We can’t depend upon, and 99% of you all cannot continue to hide behind, the ‘usual suspects’
This is a call for all.

ACTION STRONGLY REQUESTED
RAPID RESPONSE
To all of you who have read this post and who have at least superficially agreed with it, including those who liked and hearted it and strolled and rolled on, as well as those who left commentary, there is indeed a way that you can actually put legs on your nebulous thoughts– otherwise they are just that. Only thoughts and they will do absolutely nothing to help to heal and succor and walk with black people.
So then.
We have launched the Lace on Race Mental and Emotional Health Fund, to provide succor and relief to Black people to self care.
No criteria. We will disburse until the Fund is depleted.
If ever there was a time for Black people to be able to rest and reflect and breathe, this is it.
Most employers will not allow that space. But we can, and will.
For those of you who want to make more than an empty performative gesture, here is your chance. Black people are in deep pain right now, and white people, outside of performativity, have done painfully close to nothing, either on an individual or Collective level. This is a way to put your convictions where your mouth is.
For more information, and to either request funds, or to financially engage so we can walk with even more Black people, see below.
