FAITH, HOPE, AND PURPOSE
I continue to have a hard time finding words to describe why and how we got here… inciting violence, threatening execution and planning attacks on our democracy. That human poop was smeared on our Capital’s walls. That a noose was erected. That people working at the Capital couldn’t leave safely and feared for their lives. Some were harmed. That this fear and harm is felt daily for some Americans.
At what point, does the collective benefit and safety of our country outweigh the individual rights? And how do we hold each other accountable? And I’m now a Socialist because I’m interested in focusing on the collective, correct?
And we’re so divided and untrusting that many will dismiss this information because of its New York Times source as I’ve dismissed that our election was rigged.
One commonality I find between the right and the left is faith. We pray and speak about God and that he supersedes everything – His will will be done. If Jesus was walking with us right now on earth, what would he have to say about rigged elections, the events at the Capital, racism, supremacy and platforms like Parler, Twitter and Facebook?
The data indicates we are living in a time where suicide is climbing; depression, anxiety and mental health issues are at an all-time high, racism and supremacy is alive and well, we are a leader in mass shootings, and on and on. My heart is so heavy. People are hurting and in pain, yet the anger and rightness we feel outweighs our ability to listen to each other and help each other heal.
I am committed to being the change I wish to see and being a less harmful and much safer person accordingly. I’m going to choose loving durably over hate. I’m going to put the team (and my fellow Americans) first over my own self interests. And I’m going to walk with faith, hope and purpose. I will be a source of healing, not a source of further pain. My actions and my words will align, and I expect to be held accountable.
