Hello, Community.
The post from yesterday has been made dormant; the overarching points I made within it got somewhat lost in another debate about ‘lanes’ and what is and is not appropriate for different cohorts.
I will be speaking to that in another post, but for now, I do indeed want to have robust discussion on the post itself.
We will be re-running this post again in The Bistro in the Lace on Race Cafe, along with prompts for discussion in the different patron dining rooms.
All are welcome to partake.
The Lace on Race Cafe, which was hard launched during our anniversary weekend last month does require registration to fully participate. Real names and photos are a requirement. We will drop the registration directly below this post.
This Facebook Page, aka the Takeout Window, will still see the original post. We are not deleting; that is something foundational to our guidelines. The Facebook page is absolutely public, all content is accessible.
Hope to see you in the Cafe.
Look forward to more posts throughout today and the coming days, including the aforementioned reflection on ‘lanes’, as well as a candid discussion regarding funding, including the substantial gift from a private family, which allowed me to retire and still retain health benefits; something crucial for a (somewhat) physically fragile woman like myself. As well, we will talk about what these unrestricted funds will mean for the long term stability and overall sustainability of the new entity under which we now work: The Lace on Race Center for Racial Equity.
Lastly, among the other offerings, I plan another personal offering about my overall impressions and lessons learned from the last almost three weeks.
Oh! This as well! Believe it or not, with all of this going on, I am going to have the audacity (foolish or not) to stand before you eye to eye as I do the February Ask; while I am less than comfortable with doing so, because it can indeed leave me even more vulnerable, it is part of my job description to do so, and i still believe in the overall underlying praxis that the Ask asks us to confront–for all of us, me and you. I will thank the Sustainers and Sustainers in Training, like I always do, and also extend an invitation to those of you who prefer to engage a la carte; that includes lurkers and rubberneckers, who have no doubt been quite entertained.
But we who are walking faithfully and durably must never forget Guideline #1: we are definitely not an entertainment space. We are here in service to our North Star and also to our Western Star.
All else is dross.
Thanks for reading. See you soon.
