As The Women So Seldom Cherished by the world, we *know* the probabilities are almost zero that anyone will celebrate us.

Sometimes not even ourselves.

Sometimes, crushingly but crucially, not even other Black women.

So, yes, buy the lipstick. Rock the platforms. Fill the room with flowers. Upgrade to heated leather seats.

Sometimes, most times, all we have is us.

And when that breaks down, for however short a time, it’s still imperative to cherish ourselves in our aloneness.

Sometimes, all we have is ourselves.

And to cherish ourselves in a world that hates us is a radical and revolutionary act.
