Early November Ask

Hi LoR community – Danielle here. This week has started out differently than many of us hoped it would. There was no great blue wave turning out to save the democracy. The polls were wrong and the numbers are bleak in how close this race is turning out to be. Many feel let down by friends or family as we watch and wait and hope. Let me ask you this though ~ how will this change what we are growing here?

Because the work is not over, no matter who takes office for the next four years. The. Work. Is. Not. Over.

This work that we do in this space is ongoing. This is why resilience and reliability are crucial. If you are white and working to manage your own feelings of disappointment and despair as you watch the election results, what do you imagine your Black and brown friends are feeling? How reliable do you think we look to them right now?

One way we can show our reliability is by engaging here regularly, following the guidelines that Lace and the Admins recently updated. Another way we show our commitment to Lace, to this work, and to this space is through our financial engagement. Lace made a post on election night about it being time to plant the orchard ourselves ~ and so we will.

With your tangible partnership, we enter this new season with eagerness, curiosity, resilience, and resolve. I thank you for accepting the oranges from my tree, and allowing me to taste your own. An orchard, We are an orchard.

I’d like to close this Ask with a few more words from Lace, so if you haven’t already, please watch Lace’s Early November Ask video linked below and then consider the steps you will take to further your reliability and commitment, both to this space and to living out your values as we move forward.

I will continue to commit to engaging her financially every month – my engagement is done the middle of the month, so you will see that on or around the 15th. I am also continuing to engage in the posts and comments and pledge to catch up on the missed Live videos I missed.
