Starting today, we are *officially* posting to the Lace on Race website!
Going forward, it will be our main home.
For now, we will continue to use Facebook for aggregated content, for marketing and pr to drive to the site, and eventually for groups. But the main work will be done here, in this place we control and is fully ours.
Ask me if I’m excited! Go on, ASK!
Uh…yep. I’m pretty darned stoked.
As we move, you will note some changes. First and foremost, no more react emojis. This is a big deal, and for those of you used to doing that, despite months of our exhorting you otherwise, you’re gonna have to find a new way to engage. Ahem, that will mean commenting. I hope for the same–actually, I hope for a better level of engagement here both in quality and quantity of comments.
As to those comments…yes, the beta testers are right. They are moderated now. Yes, that means more work for the team.
But. I expect the quality of discourse to dramatically improve.
As usual, we’re gonna do things differently–if we choose not to run a comment, we will tell you why. We don’t expect to decline most comments; most of those will probably be from those who are new and getting used to our community. But if we do, if it’s because of quality of posts (we’re not fans of one word comments, or sarcasm/snark, or ‘hit and run’ one liners, we will give you an opportunity to course correct.
Here is something for you: you will have to make an effort to come here. On Facebook, we were actively suppressed, and that drastically impacted our page views. But a few did get through, and was an invitation to engage with the rest of the Page. Now it will be totally on you. We will be crossposting to the Page, so you will still find it there, but as we are going to suggest that comments reside on the website (to the point of disabling comments on the Page if we can), the work will be done here.
We have not been able to enable groups here, which will be a big part of our community going forward, so for now, when we get to the place where groups are viable, we will use the Page for now. We’ll see how that works.
Meanwhile.
Welcome home. Some of the paint is still a little sticky, and we still have to landscape, and WHERE ARE MY FUZZY SLIPPERS???
Oh, heh. Sorry.
I’m wearing them.
Nevermind. 🙂
The kettle’s on. Let’s get comfy.
Let’s settle in.
Welcome to Lumpy Crossings.
