Everybody asks what they can do to support workers, particularly black and brown workers.

And then, welp.

When they’re given something tangible and relatively easy to do, they come up with all kinds of reasons why they can’t (won’t).

The workers of Amazon are asking you to live without tchotchkes and costume jewelry and makeup and whatever else it is that you think you cannot live without from Amazon.

They’re not asking you to live without it forever.

They’re asking you to live without it for a week.

It used to be a mortal sin to cross a picket line, but now we roll our eyes at people who dare to ask more of their employers and ask more of the people who say that they stand with them.

This should not be hard.

And if it *does* seem onerous and unrealistic and presumptuous of them to ask this small thing of you, for this incredibly limited period of time, that is a stance you need to interrogate.

We are, if we allow it, poised to be part of a reimagining of what work looks like in this country for generations to come.

If we allow it.

Worker rights are human rights.

Particularly here. When Amazon warehouse workers often wear adult diapers because they don’t have time to go to the bathroom, where their quotas are brutal, and where they are routinely sacrificed to what is now the expectation and entitlement of next day delivery.

Who we are during this action it’s who we are.

Who are you going to be?
