1/3 “Folks ask if we’re in another civil war. We never resolved the original civil war. That’s the issue. It’s why we have confederate monuments everywhere, why a confederate flag was in the Capitol on 1/6. Lincoln was assassinated, Reconstruction ended & now we’re here 100+ yrs later

2/3 No president in US history has successfully united the country in a commitment to multiracial democracy. That’s why we’re here. What folks call unity in the past were gentlemen’s agreements among wealthy white men who allowed some degree of structural racial oppression.

3/3 Folks are like, “why didn’t the insurrectionists cover their faces? Why did they post pics online?” Because they weren’t expecting to fail.”
