Good morning, new people doing new things in new ways on a new day! This is Laura, lovingly here to remind us all that one of our new ways is NO REACTS.
That is, no likes and hearts and angries and hahas on the Lace on Race posts. The ability to like, scroll, and roll runs counter to the deep engagement we require in this space, per our guidelines. (For a bit more clarity, reacting to the comments of fellow walkers on those posts is accepted as loving encouragement, but also must not take the place of deep engagement with you reflections and your words.)
Further, we are a space for full transparency and honesty. We own our words, and let them stand. DO NOT DELETE. Do not delete your own comments, or the comments of others. OUR REAL WORK IS IN THE COMMENTS and erasing that work is an act of violence to the walker erased and the community robbed of the opportunity to learn. So NO deleting.
This too… OUR REAL WORK IS WITH EACH OTHER. NO blocking of anyone, NO hiding posts, and NO setting comments to no response.
Finally for this post, but this post is admittedly only a quick summary… KIND CANDOR. NO SNARK. NO PUNCHING DOWN. It’s easy to get lax about this in a melee like some of our threads have become, but this is non-negotiable. This is core to our ethos, and our ethos is what propels us towards our North Star: to lessen and mitigate the harm endured by Black and brown people perpetuated by white people… like me (Laura).

We are truly pleased to have you here. We ask that you read the guidelines before engaging, and adhere to them as you engage.
