Here is a cautionary tale about white people running, actually running and controlling and directing, racial justice spaces.
At elementary, middle and high schools.
At not-for-profits.
At colleges and universities.
And this is why I hate that shit.
Are ALL the Black and BIPOC people busy and unavailable for these salaried/tenured positions in which wp speculate and dabble but that we actually LIVE as the subject matter experts?
No.
We’re available.
To talk about our subject matter experience, and get paid for a change for educating.
But we’re not wanted there.
Because we might actually expect accountability and for your asses to do some actual work and make some sustainable and sustained changes.
Meanwhile, we on the front lines and busy fighting the very ones out here profiting off of their own racism and repackaging OUR stories in the diet food section for white consumption.
Look at whiteness full in the eye.
And see how it works.

“To those of you posting and sharing the post about the history you were taught in US schools (‘how come you were taught Helen Keller and not W.E.B. DuBois…’), let me share something with you.
The person who wrote it, Jim Golden, is gar.bage.
Here’s a little story.
Yesterday my friend on her business page, that specifically talks about race, understanding white privilege and de-centering whiteness (my summary, not my friend’s), shared that post and asked her page followers to deconstruct why it is that history in the US specifically centers white experiences, and why specifically white washed experiences. Again, the page is all about having people, primarily white and non-Black people analyze themselves and their own internal workings as it relates to racism and white supremacy (ie facilitating the work of helping them become anti-racist).
Someone by the name of Kate Miller (a white woman, and it’s important to note this) “randomly” decided to comment on my friends page (and not the 30,000 other pages that have shared it, Kate admitted to not doing this to anyone else) telling her she needed to attribute the post to her friend.
My friend who is a Black woman, asked for the name of Kate’s friend and how she, my friend, was supposed to know that the post had been written by Kate’s friend when it was a viral post with no name attached to it.
The conversation that grew from those first two comments initially had the potential for Kate to learn some valuable things about how white people often interact with Black people in ways that are steeped in white supremacist thinking based on how Kate made her initial comment.
The conversation got side tracked, who am I kidding it was completely fucking derailed by Jim Golden, who entered the conversation as only white men do… thinking they are the authority and deciding voice.
So Jim entered the conversation by 1) dictating that he knows Kate’s heart and intentions; 2) assuming he’s an equal to my friend (as an expert) on her page; 3) imploring through the use of “I beg you” phrases that my friend, who now suddenly has power, he implores her to stop “being mean” to Kate.
Basically he weaponized Kate’s white woman-ness to attack my friend and the conversation that was happening before he entered. Something Kate, the white woman hadn’t fully done herself. He then proceeded to go the ABW (angry Black woman) route of attacking on my friend and her integrity, even though my friend had receipts from a private conversation/PM she and Jim had had moments before he commented on my friend’s page. Because my friend being the person she is, when Kate gave Jim’s name as the author, reached out to Jim directly (immediately) to confirm the story so she could amend her post, as would be the ethical thing to do.
But Jim felt the need to enter the conversation the way he did and welp… he’s gar.bage. Over 300 comments on this one subthread because white folks think they can talk any old way to Black people and not get called on it…. even as he claims to be doing anti-racist work.
