(This post has gotten absolutely no traction. I know why. It’s radioactive. Read and comment anyway. With something this crucial, scrolling away is cowardice.)
This is exactly what I tried to say to the person I once thought loved me and respected me. The dynamic went down exactly this way.
I would send them this, but just like they never read and internalized Lace on Race, nor did they acknowledge my almost 40 years of change work, they would never read this.
But you can.
Don’t enter into relationship with us only to shiv us.
Ears to hear.

But I am saying this plainly this now: if you are white or white adjacent, and you do say you love me, even a soupcon, you will read this for maximum gain.
And locate yourself. Because the odds are way better than even are you’ve done this stuff, in however diluted a form, to me, and to other Black people as well.
We don’t tell you. Because we know what you most probably will do.
Every Black person has had an iteration of my Friday.
