My [least] favorite thing is how everyone knows this already and agrees with it on general principle, but somehow never think it applies specifically to them. Everyone who was in gifted and talented programs is somehow so, so, so sure that they belonged there.

Tl;dr: the myths of meritocracy and exceptionalism are toxic, anti-Black, and classist. Do away with these programs and provide all children with high quality enrichment in their education. Also, you ain’t special.
