The only tool available to us as a page to lovingly confront those who either refuse to engage, or who insist on using reacts, is by banning them. Believe me when I tell you I take absolutely no pleasure in this.

Because this page is attached to my personal account, banning someone also means I’m banning them from my personal account, so they can’t contact me.

If you do find yourself banned, and you want to continue in lace on race, with a commitment to engagement according to the guidelines, you can contact one of the admins.

You won’t be able to message me or lace on Race, because of the way Facebook works.

Listen.

I don’t want to ban anybody.

But I cannot spend 20 hours a week solely in policing you all, *and giving you good content, *and engaging with you on post, *and developing new material for you all, all while having a full-time job.

I need to take something off my plate.

And lurkers and people who respond only with reacts are intentionally choosing to hurt this community in very real ways.

I’ve already said that I am completely okay with a much smaller number who are truly ready to do the work.

That means full engagement , that means adhering to the guidelines and Ethos of the space for the benefit of all.

I cannot keep doing posts like this every other day.

It kills my spirit, and it makes me not want to be here.

And one of the biggest reasons that I created this space is that I myself wanted to space I would be happy to come to abide in.

That is eroding rapidly.

And you all are the only ones with the power to change that dynamic.

Again, if I remove you from Community, I am truly hoping it is a temporary thing, and that you will be willing to come back with full intention and full engagement.

But we have had this policy in place for eight months now, and reacts are even more than they were two months ago.

This is not sustainable.

I’m going to do a very tough ask today, for the community of lace on race, and like I said with the post for our community partner, *that exactly one person has engaged with so far*, y’all need to step up.

I give you my absolute best. I work my ass off for you all, each and every one of you, people of color, white people, lurkers, reactors, active engagers.

I have tried very hard not to make it seem like you owe me anything. But you owe this community.

And y’all need to start acting like it.

If you want the space to continue.
