This is what I think of when people tell me, “I want to go to Hawaii. But not the tourist Hawaii. I want to go where other folks don’t usually go!”
I hear, you want your own private paradise.
You want to either invade our private places or create your own.
I’m afraid what you’re asking for is far too familiar
And even good people don’t really get what it’s like to have your homeland invaded by the millions every year. Where most of our resources are reserved for the visitor, and only the jails and ghettos for the native
Just think about that as a guest to your home.
If a visitor came into your house and asked, “I want to go to the places no one goes!” That would mean your bedroom. Your sanctuaries.
I’m down with people I’m close to to doing that. But you should be invited. I have sense not to ask that when I go to your home. What we ask is that you have the same sense when you come to ours
