This is especially fitting, after our ‘Diversity & Inclusion’ pooch meme.
Our own Jameelah Jones is brutally accurate. And it is particularly relevant in this space.
I have said this before: the people and orgs doing cutting edge work that is both effective and, crucially, both completely replicable, but not afforded the freedom, or the funds, to scale in the way they deserve, are exactly the ones white people ignore.
Why?
Because most white people don’t want change.
The system is working.
For them.
What they want is a dopamine hit.
Like Lace on Race, these initiatives are not seen in either the corporate or the ‘major’ nonprofit/ngo worlds–and our work will never be mentioned, never mind amplified, affirmed, or featured like corporate backed efforts.
What are you doing to place spotlight and megaphone to grassroots work, which, frankly, is where the innovation is?
