So, this is an example of what I mean.

I specifically requested no reacts.

Welp.

35 of ’em later, and less than ten comments logged, it’s pretty apparent that my words and requests don’t hold the heft I like to think that they do.

I am not going to reiterate the reasons; I have done that numerous times.

I will give you a word about exceptions: there are none.

Doesn’t matter if you’re busy.

Doesn’t matter if you don’t understand or acknowledge my reasoning.

Doesn’t matter if you agree with me or not.

Doesn’t matter how you identify racially or ethnically.

Doesn’t matter if you know me in real life, were or are my boss, or know my bike lock code.

My reasons are sound. This is neither thoughtless or arbitrary.

We received correspondence today about the policy, and how it may affect differently abled community members.

We are actively working on a way to honor real issues around this for that very small slice of the population which would otherwise be inhibited from fuller participation and engagement with the material and with the beloved community as a whole.

For that very small slice, we will be creative and accommodating. We will require your assistance to do this well and consistently and reliably, and will also require your grace and sense of radical inclusion and truly making space in this space for all of us.

For the rest of us, it is a requirement, however gently stated, that you adhere to what we are solidly stating. It is for the health of the community that you say that you value.

We will deliver a housekeeping post that will also cover this issue. But this is important enough to stand alone.
