There is something I want to say about the disconnect between all the agreement here in the last few days about compensating black and brown people; well agreement at least in theory, and how white people actually behave when faced with it.

But I am, frankly, terrified of your all’s probable response, which will be to flee or to deny.

And you all know it.

That is white people power in a nutshell. In sharp relief, even here in this space supposedly led by me.

The power to silence by your disengagement and abandonment of the work.

Own it hard.

Keep this truth in mind as we wrestle with the next audio from Claudia Rankine later on today.
