RE white people profiting off of racism: so the collective answer seems to be ‘listen to black voices’.
And most of you, 99 percent of you in fact, stop right there.
Nope.
Listen to black voices and *compensate* them.
Economics are fueled by White supremacy.
White supremacy is fueled by economics.
It’s played out here in this space with a less than two percent positive response on asks, despite all the glowing recommendations and my spending entire days bleeding on my keyboard begging.
Racism is about money. White supremacy is about concentrated wealth and profiting off the labor and struggle of others.
How nobody talks about this dynamic, where, again, only white people can do this work full time, and black people are their product, *and the money stays concentrated in white hands* and how immoral it all is is telling. We see you.
And here, when people have the opportunity to at least begin to right the wrong that they agree is wrong, and also agree in another thread that the stats on the wage gap are buttressed by black and brown women for the benefit and aggrandizement of white women-put another way, that a significant percentage of white women’s earning power is directly attributed to the suffering of black and brown women, and 99 percent of them do absolutely nothing, and still talk about the ‘risks’ they are taking, with little thought to the visceral risks that have been taken for decades, mostly for their benefit, makes the truth of concentrated wealth and the white supremacy that is still baked into even anti racist work, it is sometimes hard to find ways to make white women see the connections and the perpetuation of white racism even as they say they are fighting it.
This is where white women get off the bus. And yes, we see it. And until this nut is cracked, welp.
