Hey you guys, a very quick and dirty Weekly Ask…(should be Intermittent Ask, we’ve asked way less, but Whatevah…)

This is the June Ask. Yes, there will be a July Ask. There has just been too much going on, and with the more than mild irony, that the more we do here, the fewer contributions we are graced with.

As it is, we have received about 30 responses a month in the 5 months we have been together. We now have more than 3000 people. That is less than one percent. This month, there has been half that, while the work has only increased. While we are grateful, this is not sustainable.

In the first month, I talked about the value of work, all work. I have no problem with taking other work, be it other writing gigs, or Del Taco or stocking shelves. But this is where I feel I am called, and this is where people come to get what I hope is good work, and where at least some of you vowed to partner with me. So again, a direct ask, so we can continue this amazing space and the work I have been privileged to do.

We have been doing so much over this last month. Still engaging with Macy’s; 2 conferences; engaging all over Facebook and beyond with our message, and more that I am just too pooped and activated to enumerate. And dealing with the trauma of what happened at Macy’s while giving my all to do good work. I count it all joy. And I need you and your support. It is hard to feel that I am going alone.

Don’t think that just because there is relative quiet here that work is not done; actually, quite the opposite.

You are not just supporting what you read, though you are, and thank you; you are supporting the intellectual and emotional labor wherever we go. And you are keeping this space that we have co created viable and sustainable, and allowing me the freedom to write, and agitate, and amplify the voices and lives of those we all say we stand with.

Thank you all, as always, for choosing to stand with me, this community, and this ethos in a tangible way.

Sustainers, here is your gentle reminder. Ok, back to work for Lace.

I would appreciate more than 30 stepping up; actually, audacious Ask: I would like no fewer 5 percent of you to commit to supporting this work now and for the month of july, so i could worry less about this piece and give my best efforts towards content, original and aggregated, and go the distance with Macy’s.
