On the importance of the journey toward complete, joyous, and uncompromising racial equity::

People often ask why we do the work of racial justice and the dismantling of white supremacy. Why does it become a conviction? Why this work above other seemingly competing concerns?

Because once we see, we cannot unsee. Once we know, we cannot unknow. Once we feel a stirring in our souls, we can do no less.

Who we are fundamentally changes. How we live in this world, and navigate among our friends, colleagues, and families becomes intentionally mindful, and our daily, hourly, minute by minute practice of living out our convictions and our internalized imperatives becomes baked into our natures.

This is the crux of it. Inward for internal work, upward through community and compatriots so we can really appreciate that this work is bigger than any one of us, and then outward to praxis in our online and our offline lives.

No more catch and release. No more mouthing the right words. This becomes who we are. That is no small thing. In fact, it is everything.

We keep walking.
